With over 100 million members, LinkedIn is not just another social network but a formidable method to professionally network with people from the same industry, blogging. If you thought Facebook and Twitter were the only two social media marketing methods, think again, and add LinkedIn to your list. Below I will tell you some ways to increase blog traffic with LinkedIn.

How to Use LinkedIn to Increase Blog Traffic

  1. Connect Twitter and LinkedIn
  2. Save time by connecting LinkedIn with Twitter app. Therefore, every time you tweet something, probably a link to your blog, the same will be reflected in the LinkedIn account. Go to the ‘Settings’ to enable authorization.

  3. Update Profile
  4. This is very important. Most of the time you see half-baked profile information like “I am a passionate blogger & I love to play video games” – this is not the kind of thing people expect on your LinkedIn “professional” profile.
Take time to update it. Mention your accomplishments, your website / blog link, your biography and your interests. Keep it concise and relevant. Add the LinkedIn profile link on the blog/s as well.

  5. Join Relevant Groups
  6. With a free LinkedIn account, you can join 50 groups. Make most of this feature. Join relevant groups and participate in them. It is not fruitful just to drop the blog post URLs on groups, some would consider it as spam. Therefore, participate and connect with fellow group members.
Moreover, LinkedIn allows you to import the contact details of LinkedIn contacts; so download it, personally contact them and try to embark on mutually beneficial blogging relation.

  7. Answer Questions
  8. Blogging is all about being valuable to the readers. You become more valuable when you interact with LinkedIn contacts in real time. The groups are particularly useful because members tend to post questions, and if you are the one solving them often, there is nothing that can stop traffic to your site.

  9. Add RSS Feed
  10. Did you know every group gives its members the facility to add the RSS feed or a website link so that any new blog post published on your blog/s can be automatically known to the group visitors? Yes, you can.
If you want a constant flow of organic traffic on blog/s, I suggest you use this feature now.

  11. Create a Group
  12. If you have the time and inclination, create a group on LinkedIn. Name it after your main blog and write a crisp description to make others curious enough to join your group. The more group members you can attract, the traffic to your blog will increase as well.

  13. Create a Company Page

If you are serious about blogging and making it a full time business, I suggest you open a company page on LinkedIn in the name of the blog. Add blog details, description, URL, products and/or services. After it’s done, let out the word through Google+, Facebook and Twitter. You can even leave the LinkedIn company page URL while commenting on blogs.

Summary
LinkedIn is a great source for additional traffic on your blog/s. It is a good SMO strategy which even high authority bloggers tend to ignore. Try it and share your experience a month from now.
